Our work not only focuses on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) which is the backdrop to the services we provide.

VAWG is not new. It is however, one of the most widespread human rights violations globally. Recognised by the World Health Organisation as gender-based violence causing physical, sexual, or psychological harm, it affects women and girls in every community — including our own.

Over the past three decades, international and UK strategies have strengthened legal frameworks and expanded protections. Landmark developments such as the UN Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, and successive national VAWG strategies have widened the definition of abuse to include coercive control, stalking, online exploitation, forced marriage, so-called honour-based abuse, and other harmful practices.

Yet legislation alone is not enough.

Domestic abuse-related deaths, intimate partner homicide, and thousands of reported cases each year show the continued and devastating impact of violence. Many forms of abuse — particularly emotional, economic, and digital — remain underreported. Data gaps, especially affecting marginalised and LGBTQ+ communities, mean some experiences are still not fully recognised and we still await the proposed Interpersonal Abuse and Violence Against Men and Boys (Strategy) Bill—persistent challenges remain.

This is why our work in preventive measures and post trauma matters.

Our services are grounded in prevention, early intervention, and post-trauma support. We challenge harmful behaviours, strengthen community awareness, and provide specialist, trauma-informed support to those affected.

Ending violence is not only about policy — it’s about protecting lives, restoring safety, and creating lasting cultural change – starting with young people and intergenerational trauma.
